I don't know if any episode has captured the magic of the series completely, but each one has multiple moments that are up there with the best of them. And, like I said, it always FEELs like Arrested Debelopment, never a sad rehash or nostalgia grab.
Yeah, I just got through Red Hairing and it's just getting more and more layered each episode. I am not in anyway disappointed in this. It seems every single word, move, background has significant meaning. And in some regards I am more involved with this story than I ever was in the story of the first 3 seasons.

Yup. And like I said, I think the start had the challenge of proving itself as AD while not overusing old reference points and building a whole new set. Once it got through that, it really picked up. I expect those early eps to feel better a second time around, too.Yeah, I just got through Red Hairing and it's just getting more and more layered each episode.

I was excited, but very fearful... but my expectations are exceeded. What day do we start openly discussing things, tuesday? Do we start a new thread?

Pfft. It's all out there. If other people want to put bullshit things like family or human interaction above their chance to freebase AD, that's their goddamn problem.

Yeah, I know I'm not caught up or anything. But I think starting a new thread is silly. Just put everything here.

It really does.VinylGuy wrote:Just saw the first episode..i love it. Feels like AD all along, not a nostalgia thing at all....Great chapter.
I repeat, it's the little things with this show. That skeptical little interjection of "On a train?" in episode one is such weird, indescribable magic. It's the kind of joke inside a moment inside a joke that enhances the entire package, but that just sort of slides by you....the sort of maneuver few comedies succeed at, but that this show does with the kind of casual ease most people save for debt-acquiring behaviors....and it's exactly the type of voodoo that kept me coming back to seasons 1-3 over and over again.
I'm becoming really glad re:my decision to just binge the whole season. It's designed perfectly for that, as it has always been...there's even more of the interweaving that requires full recall of the previous episodes, here, and it makes it a lot easier to database the layered stuff for future appreciation and laughter.
I'm looking forward to taking my time tipping and sipping the episodes on their own, mind you, and allowing it to last me weeks and weeks. That's the next step to really internalizing and "getting" every last joke....but it's also something which, history dictates and unfolding events support, can't be done with AD in the initial experience.

I think McP should teach a class on AD. I'd enroll. I think I'd enjoy this show a lot more if I watched it with him.

Just finished the Maeby episode. I was a little disappointed in it at first, but it gets better as the season progresses. I'm sure I will like to first few episodes when I re-watch them. I also love the fact that each episode is 30+ minutes.

The complexity of the story is pretty impressive.

I was not ready for this. Im only 3 episodes in at this point but right now I am underwhelmed. That is my fault. They are attempting something different here and i respect the shit out of it. I have a feeling that this will only benefit the series in the end. For now - I need to dig my toes in and get after it.
I look forward to it

Just finished season 4. The George Michael episode was my favorite. Can't wait to re-watch the series. I'm sure their are tons of jokes I missed.
