My pal has surprised me with his spare ticket for tonight's show in Belfast.
First time they've played there in a long long time but also first show since Paris.

Saw them in Chicago this summer. We were bumming around first night before the 3 Dead shows and we saw a bus downtown that said United Center Express, so we hopped on, bought face tickets at the window, got inside moments before they came on, moved over to a VIP section with a railing and great view.

Saw them on 360 tour in Moncton, but enjoyed this much better.

I'm sure Bozo will have lots to say for your show...

It's a great show, I saw the last two in Paris. A Bonologue would be great if it's from an impassioned and angry Bono. I love his Bonologues in Rattle and Hum and Live From Slate Castle videos, both part of Sunday Bloody Sunday. But if they're his sermonizing Bonologues, well good luck with that.

Amazing show Loved all the new arrangements and they sound like a real rock band. Something I never viewed them as. They occupy their own sound n never really sounded like proper rock but that show did. My pal Randall is also super impressed and he has a cynical view of them after his only other time seeing them in croke park on the vertigo tour here in Dublin..

So its Belfast and they played Bloody Sunday and the energy in the room totally changed as the dates and towns of all the big bombings in the north and here in the south of ireland were shown onscreen, and people suddenly went with it when they realised U2 were honouring the memories of the victims and not playing political with it...such a powerful moment....

gonna agree with what others have said...theyre still the best at what they do and this format in arena really really suit them..

definitely recommend watching the show live from Berci..its on this week i think on HBO

A copy of the HBO broadcast actually leaked! Obviously not the Saturday show that never happened. But apparently HBO put together a show from the first 2 Paris nights, and if any issues with the transmission occurred on the Saturday, they would have broadcast that instead. Looks absolutely stunning. Bono wasn't at his best though.

We watched the U2 show on HBO last night. There was lots of piping throughout the songs in the setlist, especially with the backing vocal tracks as it was really obvious.

U2 puts on a "great show", for sure but the enhancements are bit too obvious.

U2 is about the same age now that The Rolling Stones were just before the turn of the century. Furthermore, they have pushed themselves to be creatively relevant for an absurd amount of time, and refuse to let their age reduce their ambitions.

A live backing track is not a problem to me.

Can't say I noticed any of that, watching them live or on the special. They sounded like a real rock band for the first time and any electronic elements in the songs sounded great to me.

With U2, you a get "a show" with all of the bells and whistles to go along with it (including backing pre-recorded tracks and additional musicians under the stage). I am not making this shit up.

All you need to do is go to the U2 forum boards to hear about their shows, and trust me, I read a lot about the backing tracks gaffs from years past shows.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't pay $100 for a U2 ticket for just a "show".
