Albums of 2016
About that time again, isn't it? What's on everyone's horizons for the upcoming year?
Things I know for sure are coming next year:
Tortoise - The Catastrophist:
Yndi Halda - Under Summer:
Speculation:
New Explosions in the Sky:
New Avec le Soleil Sortant de sa Bouche: http://www.the-monitors.com/2015/11/18/ ... sa-bouche/ - Refers to recording potentially in April with a tentative fall release.
I know I've been saying for the last four years that new Do Make Say Think is probably on the way, but this time I'm pretty sure it's true.

You mean Deakin's Kickstarter? I don't know what became of it, but I do remember some sort of issue with it. I'm pretty sure he wasn't active in the band at the time, as it was during his several-year sabbatical. Anyway, you're free to fuck the album if you wish, but i just don't see the point.

Fair enough. They're a favorite of mine, so I'm anticipating what's next when they get together. The solo and side project stuff I can usually take or leave, though.

Geez. So many of my favorite bands released incredible albums this year. Not sure what 2016 will hold.

Deakin is Josh Dibbs, one of Animal Collective's members. He took a break from the band in the late '00s and that's when the Kickstarter debacle occurred.bodysnatcher wrote:yuh, i hate animal collective tootragabigzanda wrote:Full disclosure: I strongly dislike Animal Collective, so Deacon's Kickstarter fiasco is just an easy reason for me to bring the hate.Brett wrote:You mean Deakin's Kickstarter? Re: Albums of 2016
Sarah Neufeld has announced her second solo album, The Ridge, which is out February 26, this time on Paper Bag Records. Much more pop than her debut, Arcade Fire drummer Jeremy Gara is featured throughout and it sounds as if Colin Stetson puts in a turn on saxophone in the title track:

PJ Harvey and Bowie are definitely things to look forward to. IF Pearl Jam releases something, that would great but I don't really expect it.
