I can't say enough how spectacular John Prine is live. Incredible storyteller and his lyrics hit a nerve and make you feel the meaning of the song. Man, don't ever pass up a chance to see him in concert. He's in Illinois this Friday and Saturday for you RMers up there, and in Folsom in December. (I'm looking at you, dpupenya).

Which album I should start from? Any good live album?

The official "John Prine Live" from 1988 is good, but there are a few other live albums out there. The one in The Netherlands is good. Also, not on the John Prine Live album but excellent are the songs "Please Don't Bury Me" and "Lake Marie".

About a year ago I started a playlist with what I deemed "Americana" (blue collar rock / blues / country / alt country / alt rock / bluegrass sounding tunes). It's largely classic rock, and country, and it's a pretty solid playlist so far. This list has some of what would definitely be "Americana", but a lot of the tunes fall under my interpretation which isn't "Americana" in the traditional sense.
