Some random Star War thoughts:

I asked our 20-year-old nanny the other day if she and her 19-year-old brother were excited about Force Awakens...she barely knew what I was talking about. I find that fascinating. I just assumed everyone - espcially younger people - knew about the new Star Wars flick and were engaged. Not the case, although I'm sure that Gen x and older are excited, as are the real youngsters...like 5 and 7 year olds.

Love that latest TV spot on Finn. It's my favorite.

I was encouraged by his enthusiasm but also noticed that both he and Abrams have now said they can't wait for the next film. I'm not sure how to take that. It's obviously the one where we can get to the meat of the story and this one is all exposition and setting everything up. But it kind of undermines this one for me to have both the writer and the director saying it.

Might be reading too much into it. I think they're just saying "we made a great fucking movie, I can't wait to see what the next team does!" kinda thing.

This movie would have been finished quite a while ago. It's similar to a band (well it used to be the case) that has to promote their new album but they're already looking at the new songs they have. (a few weeks after VS PJ were busting out Last Exit and Tremor Christ)

Yeah I guess so. I just hope there's a follow through all the way in quality. Don't know if Kasdan is involved after this, I think he is. But if he's excited about it and he sure seems to be, then I guess we can be too

I really hope Lucas' story leaks at some point so we can laugh our asses off at how bad it is.

You gave us a cast of characters that we loved. We didn't give a shit about the spaceships, idiot. Is the Falcon, cool? Duh, but we don't give a shit about it if Han Solo isn't flying it. Are light sabers rad? You bet! But if it's not Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan or Vader wielding them, who gives a good goddamn? Leia doesn't have a neat-o pod-racer nor does she swing a saber and you know what? WE LIKE HER AND GIVE A SHIT WHAT HAPPENS TO HER.

Wanna know how I know it's about characters and not spaceships, George? Because you went back to the well and made three NEW movies about characters nobody liked or gave a shit about and then you went and filled the goddamn things with... you guessed it, FUCKING SPACESHIPS!

You went back into the originals and ADDED SPACESHIPS.

It's YOU George Lucas who has no clue what your movies are about. Don't try to throw your fans under the bus or condescend when you clearly don't have any idea what you're talking about.
