and most of these are short season (10-12 episode) series.
this mostly. and not all of these shows air at the same time. i'm in a lull right since none of my favorites are currently airing, but even during a busy period it's really only 3 or 4 shows a week. my wife and i usually save up a weeks worth of shows for an evening or a weekend afternoon we don't have anything going on.
Do you ever watch American Pickers?
sure. i've gotten caught up in a marathon of those plenty of times. same with storage wars and shipping wars. those shows are like crack.
I fully expected you to ask me what American Pickers is. But yeah they can be. I generally only catch American Pickers when I go visit my parents, but I enjoy it. Shipping Wars would be better if not for the dumb commentary by the driverz.
the dumb commentary is what makes it great. otherwise you're just watching that bar skank wrangle farm animals and the dumbass dude fuck everything up.
but we do get american pickers here as with most american tv. we also have our own version called canadian pickers (original!). it's pretty much the same thing except with a couple of goofy albertans instead of midwesterners.

American Pickers almost made my top 10 list. Same with Canadian Pickers, Pawn Stars, American Restoration...

It just feels forced.

DVR and DVD mostly. HIMYM is in my top 10, and it's been on for 8 years. I watched Seasons 1-7 in the span of a year. I didn't watch Mad Men "in real time" until Season Five. Same with Breaking Bad. Just finished S1 of Parenthood, which is in it's 4th season now.
On the other hand, I'm behind on episodes of shows like The Office and Parks and Rec. I have them on my DVR, but I haven't watched them yet.
It's easy to watch tv at your own pace these days.
I don't know if it's a "top 10" for me, but I'm addicted to Pawn Stars.
Other shows in the mix right now:
The NBC comedies
American Horror
Modern Family
Big Bang Theory
Dexter
The First 48
Breaking Bad
Ancient Aliens
Through The Wormhole
The Universe
Daily Show / Colbert
I've finally started Mad Men...Only 3 episodes in, but I'll be watching more. I only watch The Big Bang b/c not much is on and TBS plays it all the time. I saw a post earlier claiming the show is "an abortion"...not sure what that means, but I can acknowledge that it's not that great. It has it's moments, but at the end of the day, it's an average sitcom. For some reason though, I like it more so than 'How I Met Your Mother'. I just can't get into that one, and I've tried, but it just doesn't do it for me.
