Modern Rock?

Post by lukin321(2) »

You guys might know better than me since I've had my head in the sand with newer rock bands lately (I've been focusing on the older stuff).

Have any rock bands come out in the last 5 years or so that are worth a listen?

What kinda bands from a few years back were you into? They have threads for tons of bands on here, but if we know what you are looking for then we can point you in the right direction

Everyone will list a bunch of great indie type rock bands but if you are looking for ROCK bands then no. I'd be thrilled to be proven wrong.

delta spirit, dead weather and hanni are straight rock bands, hanni is more garage actually (earlier Black Keys)

best coast is rock for sunny days

a place to bury strangers is one of the best bands out there, but theyre LOUD!

So indie rock is not rock enough? How much rock is enough rock to be called a rock band?

This was the first band I thought of for this thread. But yeah dude, I don't know. Maybe you should just start looking for yourself. Or just take Zeb's list and be done with it. That oughta set you straight and send you down enough rabbit holes to keep you busy and formulate your own tastes.

I can't imagine I could come up with a suitable definition that would satisfy everyone or even 20% of everyone. Psychobain put a nice list together but I wouldn't call them rock bands a few not even remotely. Soma listed a couple good ones but I don't think they meet the date ranges. I dont know. I knew it was a mistake to say what I said the moment I posted it. I can't possibly back up that opinion. I know Foghat is a rock band and Foster the People isn't so I guess a band would have rock the Foghat amount to be rock. For me.

Yeah, I fucked up on the date.

This was my favorite record from 2008. It rocks, boy does it rock.
