But see that's the problem.

It's phantom menace syndrome all over again.

Can this possibly live under the weight of expectation we are putting on it?

Individually I mean. For ourselves. I'm not sure.
Guys, this is probably going to be the best or second best star wars movie. You heard it here first

You guys are on crack if you're really expecting this to equal or top the OT. Those are absurdly high hopes.

Because there is only 1 really great one, 2 good ones, and 3 that barely qualify as films.

If this is anywhere near Ep 4 then I'll be happy. I don't think it has a chance of hitting Empire or Jedi level more due to the sad hardening of this old heart.

Someone here on RM once posted a review about Abrams Star Trek reboot

Words to the effect of

Gotta suck if you're a Star Wars fan. That kicked the shit out of even revenge of the sith.

This is reading like when Pearl Jam drops a real turd of an album and people try to prop it up by talking down the entire catalog.

"Well, their albums have always been poorly written. It was just the performance that..."

"Well, their performances were always iffy. They just wrote to that so well..."

"They've always been a pretty generic pop band. I expect nothing less...."

"How is Sirens any more power balladesque than Wishlist?!"

"I've only had this for six days but I can definitely say that it is the second best thing they've ever done and I will still feel that way in ten years."
