If that movie started right when were approaching the island with a little set up dialogue and skipped the mind numbing first hour I would look at Jackson's King Kong more kindly.

I love how long everything takes. I kinda think Jackson is at his best when everything is super bloated.

i don't think i would have liked it as much without that setup...it really got me involved with the characters

Yeah, to be honest, I think if that movie has a problem section, it's when Kong is rampaging through NYC. Always feels like a bit of a letdown after the overload of Skull Island. But perhaps that's part of the point.

Had Jackson not totally miscast Jack Black I'd probably look at the movie more kindly.

I wasn't all that interested in Jack Black's money issues or Watts wanting to be a star. You could establish that in 5 minutes. I prefer the 70's one in that regard.....and a young Jessica Lange.
