Really?!

I want to read that one next.
I want to read American Pastoral next!
It's where I'm up to in the Zuckerman books and I think there's a movie in the works, so it's time.
Didn't know about the film. That should be really cool. I dig the cast. This is one of those things that has the potential to be a really great movie.

Finished American Gods today and enjoyed it a lot. It was very slow at times and I found myself bored at parts but most of the times it was really good. The third act was great all the way.

Now I'm 30 pages into Blood Meridian and I am not convinced at all yet if this book will be something for me. Let's see how this one will go.

I really need to get used to his writing style. I have a hard time following him sometimes with the missing quotation marks and all. Not being that great at reading difficult english books doesn't help.

I've read and loved a number of his other books. There's something especially difficult about that one.

Yep.

I'm on the Harold Bloom plan when it comes to Blood Meridian.

He didn't successfully read the thing through until his third try. Attempt number one got me about 100 pages in, too. Which mirrors Bloom's experience. I haven't tried a second time yet. Someday, I suppose.

Though, I'm just really not sure it's worth it.

Finished up American Pastoral.

It was really good. Though, easily my least favorite of the Roth's I've read. I'm not 100% sure why everyone insists that it's his masterpiece. It drifts away from itself too often. It rambles and repeats and gets caught up in itself too often; it's too bloated overall.

But it's definitely thought provoking and readable. When it's at its best, it is contemplative and heartbreaking with suburb sentences.

Blood Merridian is all about the ending. Probably the worst book I've read by him.

I'm about to read The Art of War.
