I'm more looking for a Chewie than a Leia..if you catch my drift

Ewok is an acceptable second choice.

I remember when I was only using this board to track tour info, and I saw Dime was going to the 2009 London show (Shepherds Bush? A small venue). And the whole gig, I was stood behind this obnoxious drunk Irish guy and I thought "that must be him. Man, what a douchebag".

This story doesn't really have an ending. It wasn't Dime. I'm tired. *lightsaber noise*

I still can't get over the fact that the trilogy will have multiple directors. why wouldn't JJ want that gig? and who are the other directors, again?

I assume they're trying to follow the model of the OT, which had a different director for each movie.

The other dudes are Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow.

It's a marketing decision. The intent on Disney's part has clearly been to mirror the original trilogy as many ways as possible, in order to convince people that it's safe to come back. That includes familiar names like Kasdan, multiple directors, and apparently a story arc that at least initiates by mimicking the original trilogy.

Whether or not the creative talent involved make it work, it's hard to ignore the fact that a lot of the basic decision-making is built around earning back that massive investment. Not the best starting point for great moviemaking, but probably better than Lucas's "free reign" scenario.

I was at that show. At the front. Singing The End top of my lungs as ed played it.

But there were a hundred drunk Irishmen and many others at that show.

That was a weird night. Great show but I got lost on the subway and ended up in midtown at 3am singing U2 to myself funny enough :)
