Re: TV: The Walking Dead
Let's have 5 episodes building toward a showdown between Carl and this other fuck who wants him and Rick dead amount to absolutely zero consequence. Great idea.

The best part of the show was this screen cap

I'm sure it was unintentional, but he said "there's... too many of them".Kaius wrote:I don't know, did he?

I like his character, but like most good characters on the show he's completely wasted.

I don't know why I'm letting myself get upset over a show about zombies. I guess I just had big expectations for this episode and was let down in pretty much every way possible.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Re: TV: The Walking Dead
Yeah it has essentially turned into the "cliffhanger at the end of every episode" type of show. So annoying. When did TV in general start thinking that this is what we want week after week? There are still a very few shows that don't feel the need to do this, but that number is dwindling.tragabigzanda wrote:I gave up on this show right after they killed the Governor. Don't those who still watch it feel like the writers and showrunners are just yanking your chain week after week? Anyway, that's why I left -- I hate when art doesn't respect the viewer's intelligence.

Drawing out the lady's death was obnoxious. Kaius is right--they repeated what was essentially the same scene multiple times, for no real reason.

Re: TV: The Walking Dead
ugh
This whole half-season could have been done in 2 episodes without missing any interesting plot or character development. I think this was my least favorite stretch of Walking Dead episodes so far.

I still look forward to this show more than any other. An episode is never all bad, but pacing (over an episode, over a season) has been a problem for this show since the beginning. It may be the show's only serious problem.

I imagine if we were bulk watching as opposed week to week pacing wouldn't be as much of an issue. The waiting is the hardest part.

Re: TV: The Walking Dead
And I understand pacing issues may be prevalent when dealing with a cast this large, but I think that's why I get so frustrated by the choices being made. There is A LOT of wasted screen time on largely inconsequential exposition and redundant dialogue considering the source material. I'm not naive, so I understand that extending story lines with excessive filler scenes and ending every episode with a cliffhanger seems to be the successful formula, but If I didn't feel so invested in the story because of my fandom of the book, I wouldn't waste anymore of my time. The Argonaut wrote:I still look forward to this show more than any other. So as far as new characters go, the blonde love interest makes it to the second half of the season and that's it. #alexandrialivesmatter
