We don't even lock the board for new PJ records and spoilers aren't even a consideration in that field!

Are we about to rename RM under a Star Wars monicker?
How the hell can you spoil a new album? You either listen to it or you don't, there isn't anything that "happens" that you have to spoil.

how the hell can you spoil a film but not an album?

Well, you see, dime, film is visual storytelling. There are characters that make decisions and there are plot points, some of which are meant to be unexpected to have their full impact; we call them "twists" (A good example of this is, "I am your father!" in The Empire Strikes Back). There are elements like character arcs and situations and conflicts that people would prefer not to know in advance. You see, that's what a "spoiler" is: it's foretelling a plot device or a character arc or even a happening within the story that people would rather not know about in advance.

And album, on the other hand, is a auditory experience that lives entirely inside one's own head. Usually there are not plots and character developments and conflicts that arise or that are meant to be hidden or experienced in real time for full affect. And until it is consumed it can not be understood. Whereas a plot can be told rather than seen.

Most albums, unless they contain a story and the listener doesn't want to know that fact ahead of time, have to be experienced and heard. There is no way to spoil a sound before it is heard.

Could one say, "OMG the new PJ album has fucking UKE on it!" and have that serve as a spoiler of a kind? Sure, I suppose. But that's a much lesser sin than, "OMG Luke Skywalker is alive and he kills Leia and fucks her corpse while Force-forcing Han to watch and then Rey eats Poe's shit because Darth Vader is really ALIVE and they made a bet about it in the first reel!"

Do you see the difference?

Now I just want to go to the midnight screening of this over here (given the time-zone), then come straight on here and write about the film - ruin it for all you sons of bitches

Would you dare spoil the first word of the opening crawl?

'A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away'?
or 'Episode VII'?
