Cheers, Mike. I'm liking what I've heard of Kylesa. Will have to work through the list this week.

Solid list. I still need to sit down and listen to the new Kylesa, but I hear it is awesome.mf wrote:Kylesa seems like a logical progression.
also,
Red Fang
Saviours
Doomriders
Gojira
Priestess
Between the Buried and Me
A few others for you Soma:
Ancestors - They take some patience, but they construct some amazing songs. Start with Of Sound Mind.
Black Tust - Kin of Baroness/Mastodon/Kylesa. Their newest, Set the Dial, is awesome.
Elder - Great Boston stoner/doom band. Dead Roots Stirring is packed to the bursting with awesome riffs and solid songwriting.
Now, what would Oscar Winner® Michael Caine do?

just once so far. it reminds me a lot of the last record, which is a good thing. lots of laura's vocals. the production sounds a little muddy though. people were complaining about it on what.cd thinking it was a bad rip but i guess it's supposed to sound that way.intodeep wrote:How the new kylesa? Oh, and I mentioned these guys a while back, but Anciients are a band that any fan of metal should be listening to. Heart of Oak dropped a few weeks ago, and I've had it in constant rotation. You can stream the album here.

I like amon amarth a lot too but they are a bit different. I think some folks consider them a bit cheezy but i love that viking crap
Oh and thanks for the Kylesa info. I liked their last album. I'll have to check it out. They are playing here in a couple weeks so i'll probably go tot he show.
Goatwhore, the sword, baroness, and kylesa shows all in a months time span for me

Amon Amarth are the AC/DC of viking metal, everything sounds the same - but the title track on Twilight of the Thunder God is one of my favorite metal songsintodeep wrote:I like amon amarth a lot too but they are a bit different. Re: Metal (\M/ METAL \M/)
Out of curiosity I listened to a Filter song and a Three Finger Death Punch song back to back on the radio.
1.) Are those metal bands, and if not, what's their classification?
2.) Who listens to that shit? Man, it is awful.

I've never heard of the rest of the bands on that bill, but I really need to see BTBAM. I'm still kicking myself for missing them when they toured with baroness a couple years ago.
