Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I watched Top Five tonight, Chris Rock's last movie. It was terrific; felt fresh. It's somewhere between Woody Allen and Lost In Translation, but rooted in Rock's personal experience. Rock's script and direction have a real intent, and he is able to create a vibe that his decidedly his.

It's not amazing, but it's really well done. I hope he continues down this road.

My brother is editing all six Middle-earth movies into one chronological, unbroken movie and I'm pretty excited to see it.

I got to see the first half hour of this today and it's really awesome. So many cool, seamless touches (for instance, the Gollum origin sequence from the beginning of ROTK has now been intercut into the prologue from Fellowship, and the Fellowship prologue then immediately segues into the Unexpected Journey prologue, which is followed by "Concerning Hobbits" and finally Thorin meeting Gandalf in Bree from the beginning of Desolation of Smaug), many I didn't even notice until he told me he did them. Pumped to see the finished product.

I'm looking forward to this. I don't understand the rash of Sandler hate late. I think of his movies sort of like The Three Stooges. There's a basic, elemental quality to his scripts that allow him and his friends to goof off and tell a heartwarming story. I even enjoyed The Cobbler.
