It's like someone has been collecting all of the great action sequences that could have fueled the last 5 years of action films, but definitely didn't, and put it all right here.

had a funny moment on a flight today. Was watching the original Mad Max and a guy 2 rows up was watching Fury Road. I saw the eyes bugging out shot on his screen just seconds before it happened on my screen.

I don't mind this movie getting buzz. It's a very accomplished piece of visual filmmaking. I do get slightly annoyed by arguments that it's a feminist movie and that it did something interesting in that regard. Jennifer Jones deserves those accolades. This does not.

Fury Road is absolutely, even decidedly, a feminist movie. It's just very, very simplistic, unchallenging, and uninsightful about it.

All jokes aside, it was a fine popcorn flick, but award winning? Nah, bitch. Nah.

It's about as "feminist" as Frozen was, and it occasionally stumbles in its reach for grandeur, but its finest moments are just light years beyond any other movie of its size and scope in the last few years.

Excepting maybe the Planet of the Apes films, which I never thought I'd say.

The stuff that passes for "award winning" these days isn't that great anyway, and Mad Max is better than much of the drivel that gets nominated for Oscars.
