Just trick B into doing it. Then they won't be mad at you. That's what I do.

Christmas Day will see the first full moon on that day since 1977.
I'm taking that as a good omen for the movie. Star Wars will be magic again. Maaaaan.

9.5/10, early days and that will go down, but a good sign?

I have a question
Spoiler: show
If the Jedi are extinct why are troopers armed with weapons to deal with Lightsabers?

I don't think we're supposed to believe that the Jedi are extinct; certainly, the regular people in the galaxy (like Rey, Finn) probably don't know much about the Jedi, but I'm sure Kylo and Snoke are outfitting their troopers accordingly because they know there's at least one Jedi out there.

I was reading some EU summaries on line, and apparently the 'source' of the dark side was somewhere beyond the outer rim territories. Which seems to imply that it something distinct from the force, doesn't it?

I don't think we have to spoiler discussion of the EU. I never got into the EU stuff that discussed the origin of the Jedi or the Force, since I think explaining historical backstory like that was one of the mistakes the prequels made; I'm fine with it just being mysterious. However, from what I do understand, the Force did operate differently/have a different impact depending on where you were in the galaxy (or if you were from outside of it). The Yuuzhan Vong, for example, were completely outside of the Force, despite the fact that they were much more into the "natural world" and way less reliant on technology than the cultures we see in the film. There's been some speculation that this Snoke character is an "outsider" who won't have the same rules apply to him that we've seen in the other films, but there doesn't appear to be evidence to back it up.

Anyways, that's a long-winded way of not really addressing stip's question, and another prelude to reminding everyone: the EU doesn't apply.

I'm 99% sure you guys are analyzing that way more than JJ Abrams did.

I dunno about that. "They're going to fight Jedi; they need Jedi-fighting sticks" is a pretty simple explanation.

And why the hell are we spoiler-tagging something that's front-and-center in the trailers?

We're lulling them into a position of trust, before we dump the entire story in their 'spoiler free' thread.
