I still like that album.

Was spinning Soundgarden hits and Metallica self titled last night and it occurred to me that heavy music like that doesn't stand a chance getting mainstream exposure anymore. Sad.
Love the sound of that Metallica, shame all the earlier albums are junk.

Nice one, Doug -- if memory serves, one of the rare Dylan comps to feature forgotten single "George Jackson."

I always preferred the band version to the acoustic one.

Nice Bob. Never saw that before.

New Kitchens Floor should arrive tomorrow. Only an Aussie press so it was a little pricey. But fuck, that band rules. Can't wait to listen.

C'mon man, if it was Aussie $$$ it cost you about half. Try buying in the other direction. ;)

Eh, doesn't KD prefer the non Love & Theft version of Mississippi? Or am I thinking of someone else who is sorely mistaken?

Well, there are four released versions of "Mississippi" -- the album version, the 1996 "demo" (with just Dylan and Daniel Lanois), and two full-band versions attempted for "Time Out of Mind" (the latter three all appearing on "Tell Tale Signs"). My feeling is that Dylan sings best on the 1996 demo (the track that opens "Tell Tale Signs"), but that the "Love and Theft" take is perfect for the album. The two full-band "Time Out of Mind" takes are clearly inferior.

I've never checked out much of Hank's stuff as a bandleader. He's a treasure on the Miles Blackhawk albums though (even though Miles didn't like playing with him).
