THE FORCE AWAKENS proves JJ Abrams is an auteur: once again we have great characters, propulsive fun, sort of shitty, dumb story.

Ummm.... there was no Yoda in A New Hope.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I don't have to spoiler in here, right?
Pretty similar plot line, right down to the miniature jedi character to mirror yoda. Still really good and waaaay better than the prequels.

Ruddo can you share some of your non spoiler thoughts in here please? When you say "really good" and "waaaaaaaaaay better than the prequels", does it stack up to the originals? could it, at some point, be better than a couple of them? Is it a solid story?

Think an answer to that is to see how we'll feel about it in a year or two and have seen it and really gotten into it a few times..right now im saying its easily up there with Empire..will it have longevity in the same way though? i think so. i hope so.

when does this movie premiere for the masses? i'm seeing it 7:00 central time on Thursday night, and should probably avoid twitter before that for those that are seeing it before me.

I believe that is when it premiers. The media can't reall write any reviews until tomorrow. I think going black out mode starting tomorrow would be a good idea.Chris_H_2 wrote:when does this movie premiere for the masses? i'm seeing it 7:00 central time on Thursday night, and should probably avoid twitter before that for those that are seeing it before me.

I meant mirroring the OT, joey, not A New Hope. As dime just confirmed, I have seen it. So stay out of here if you don't want it ruined.durdencommatyler wrote:Ummm.... there was no Yoda in A New Hope.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I don't have to spoiler in here, right?

For the general public I believe Thursday at 7 pm local time is the earliest it is showing.

what i don't understand is why people would want to read or hear about spoilers. that spoiler thread must have more than just dave posting in it, yeah?

Ok. It doesn't feel as processed as the prequels, definitely has a warmer feel, kind of like the OT. So that alone makes it way better than the prequels. Also there is enough humor in it but not enough to be too much, much like the OT. Even though the story is familiar it is solid and Daisy knocks it out of the park. Some of the OT characters that are in this have nice parts, while others (2 in particular) seemed a little forced.Strat wrote:Ruddo can you share some of your non spoiler thoughts in here please? As far as better than the OT? Too soon. I wasn't as big of a fan of RoTJ as I was Empire and a New Hope, so I will say that I think I liked it better. But take the Ewoks out of RoTJ and it is close.

Also, it doesn't have Hayden Christensen in, so there's that.
