There were other places that were just as expensive and booked forever there in Lake Geneva. However, the main thing here is that they barely half filled Alpine Valley, if that.

Toronto was a bit more expensive due to the film festival, but we were able to drive up there from Pittsburgh. The two shows at the Air Canada Centre were more worth while to go to than PJ20 at Alpine Valley. And had about the same number of people in attendance; Uncle Neil came out on stage night 1.

Point being - play a venue where more PJ fans are likely to attend the shows.

Maybe if they played their hometown more than once every five years they'd have a larger fanbase there these days.

And honestly, I love Alpine Valley tons and I still thought it was total lunacy to make such a big deal about the PJ20 shows and then schedule them in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin, regardless of the fact it's considered a Chicago venue. They then compounded their mistake by not even playing Seattle or the Gorge on that tour (and no, Vancouver does not count).

I think they'll do better this next year. At least, I hope they do.

Good points, spike, it makes more sense to me now. I am not bashing Wisconsin, but I agree with Spenno, the gorge would of made more sense. I went to montreal instead because I also felt PJ20 would be a disaster.

My biggest complaint was they should of just done an American Tour. Or not done a whole PJ20 hoopla. I hope they do make up for it this year. I would travel to Washington State in a heartbeat as I have never been there. How would the gorge compare to alpine valley in nicest venues? I heard the gorge is pretty much in the middle of nowhere though.

I hope they return to the DC area this tour. They did Charlottesville and Baltimore last one, but not DC. Those two locations are tinkering on my radius of going or not. They haven't played Merriweather Post Pavillon since 2000 (Corduroy TB2K), they should go back. It's a nice vibe out there.

Gorge is super cool, and yes middle of nowhere. I've enjoyed it less as I've gotten older because camping there is really uncomfortable and annoying. But it's a bucket list thing for sure.

Was there an NYC in early May rumor? A friend of mine who works for Spotify in Manhattan said he's heard of 5/1 and 5/2 shows at MSG.
