Ridley, Boyega, and especially Gleeson were all horrendous. Awful writing. Wonky pacing. Nothing but exposition punctuated by bangs and flashes, and it embraces the worst aspects of modern drama.

VERY easily the worst SW movie - as bad as the prequels were, at least they were imaginative and didn't just regurgitate the OT in the least exciting possible way. Corporate fanboy nostalgia has really hit a new low with this.

VERY easily the worst LV post - as bad as the previous 14,000 were, at least they were imaginative and didn't just regurgitate his arguments in the least exciting possible way. Anti fanboy hysteria has really hit a new low with this

I think he wrote his review a few months ago and saved it as a draft.

the very first movie I ever saw was with my dad in 1979 -- Star Wars at a drive-in

That's how I saw it too, with my parents and older sister. I'm guessing it was 1978 or 1979.

I had a VHS tape of the original 3 from when they aired on USA Network in like the early to mid 90's. I remember being so excited when the special edition VHS tapes came out because it meant I didn't have to fast forward through the commercials and the movies wouldn't be edited.

I recently watched ANH and ESB that were taped off the USA network in the mid 90s. Watching the commercials was the best part.

God I hate this argument. I like ESB and ROTJ more than The Godfather anyway.

It was actually a few months ago. A group of us rented a place up in new hampshire for a weekend of debauchery and the place was stocked with an amazing VHS collection.

It's a desert planet, but it's not Tattooine, it's Jakku (even though it looks exactly the same)!

We can destroy the Death St...oops, I mean Starkiller by flying a bunch of X-Wings through a trench on its surface!
