I hope you adore the movie when you do see it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015)
I saw this on thursday at the IMAX in Liverpool.
I loved it
I think I can officially say I'm a Star Wars fan now. Sure, it had one or two issues...but it was magical. So many goosebumps moments.

Because I'm sure the galaxy around this stupid family is boring.
They've said many times that the main trilogies are about the family, and thanks to the force we know most of the skywalkers will be important. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

Having said that, a young Han Solo film doesn't excite me, though there are good people working on it

The Collider jedi council spoiler review is up. These guys really know their stuff so give it a watch. They'll be better able to make educated guesseds about all the questions we have.

Re: STAR WARS SPOILER THREAD. SPOILERS WITHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved it. I have minimal issues, but nothing major and nothing that really detracted from my enjoyment.
I got goosebumps at the opening scroll, and goosebumps a number of times during the whole thing.
So many questions to be answered, I'm curious as to how Episode VIII will handle it all. After such a strong opening to this new trilogy, I'm praying that Rian Johnson doesn't fuck this all up.
Is the rumour of Snoke actually being Darth Plagueis a big thing or just a bit of silly chatter? I don't know much about the Star Wars EU, so only know of Plageuis from Palpatine's chat with Anakin in Episode III.
I'm leaning towards the idea that Rey is Luke's daughter. She was perhaps training as a kid along with Kylo until he went and fucked it all up, so Luke hid her away on a remote planet for safety and wiped her memory. So when Kylo Ren interrogates her and tries to extract info from her mind, he inadvertently awakens that long-dormant part of her memory and literally awakens the force within her. It explains how she takes to the force so quickly and naturally in the film.
The reveal of Luke at the end. Fantastic stuff, what a way to close the film. I can't wait to see what happens next.

They were great. He's a great pilot and he knows his ship and what it can do. The Falcon was incredible every scene it's in.

The falcon was great
I read a few negative thoughts from people on here about the Falcon and how it was introduced, with Finn suggesting they fly it (still off screen) and Daisy just saying its a load of garbage.
I thought it was the perfect way to bring the Falcon back.

I'm really curious about who was holding the young Rey back when whoever was flying away in the flashback. I believe he was also telling her to stay there (or something to that effect).

Yeah they handled that reveal perfectly and it's the first big reveal of an old 'character' or first connection back to the OT in the whole movie so it's important they got it right.

Having said that, linking other non Skywalker things to the skywalkers and other coincidences are a bit much. R2 and 3p0s appearance in the prequels was dumb, as was today meeting chewbacca. If Finn is Lando's kid that will likely be pretty dumb.

Lotta talk about that, how the SW universe seems to be shrinking in storytelling terms..this mainly from the huge faction of fans who are up in arms 'cos a whole load of the EU has been recast as non-canon.

I think the first theory makes a lot of sense. But I still think Rey is Luke's daughter, mainly based on the old orange lady talking about the light saber, saying it was Luke's, his father's, and now it's drawn to her.dimejinky99 wrote:Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the five finest fan theories

Oh wow!!!
youve reminded me!!
when Rey is scrubbing the parts shes scavenged on Jakku, she looks over at a really old weathered and withered woman who's kind of wrinkled and orange..perhaps that's the person she's left with whos hand we see holding her in the flashback?
