It's my experience that the majority of fanboy/comic nerds don't actually read comics. They read two graphic novels and they're experts. Anyone who thinks SvB is somehow in opposition or dissimilar to "the comics" doesn't know what they are talking about. This might seem impossible for some to believe but a comic publisher can produce a hundred different takes on a group of characters over the course of several decades.
