Yeah, it just came across as a moody teenager sulking and whining about everything.
Absolutely. He was a real twat. It's ridiculous that Obi Wan thought he was the chosen one. Maybe that was the era where Obi experimented with drugs?

I like how Han saw through his crap immediately and started calling him Big Deal.

I guess that's the point they're trying to push. That selfishness and anger are the path to the dark side.

I'm not sure if I missed the reason, but why does Ren wear the mask? Vader had a reason, as it was keeping him alive. But Ren was able to remove it as often as he wanted.

Selfishness and anger don't have to be expressed solely through childish tantrums, though.

True. Many of the other sith lords and characters don't seem to display those characteristics. Maybe it was more unique to Anakin, and they're demonstrating that Ben/Ren has inherited many of the characteristics from his grandfather.

I think it's fairly clear it's because he thinks its intimidating. The character is very insecure.

How does someone be in charge of such a massive planet/weapon and huge army, and be so insecure? I'd imagine the confidence and power trip would be insane.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

you have GOT to be kidding me.
I still haven't seen TFA, so I can't compare. But a lot of what I love about the OT (ANH especially) is the political stuff. To me that's just as much a part of the fabric of the thing as the space battles or even the Force mythology. The juxtaposition of practical military strategy/politics and the mythical Force is pretty compelling.

Lucas over did it a bit in the prequels. It was a tad convoluted but I liked that all that stuff was still there.

Pandora as a world was pure magic in its realization - and then they saddled it with a weak plot and weaker characters. But I was so swept away I didn't notice until the second viewing
I only remember forest and a few really silly looking creatures. Wasn't there an LED light tree? But if you were so swept away that you missed an entire movie's worth of weak plot the first time, maybe plot just isn't a major part of what you get out of a movie.

He's not the only one in charge and you can feel the tension between him and hux.

Isn't it the exact plot ripped from Pocahontas?
