In fact, the First Order seems to be comprised entirely of pathetic pussies.

It's one of the reasons why he loses it when he can't get his way. He's not used to it. And the power is a way to compensate.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:How does someone be in charge of such a massive planet/weapon and huge army, and be so insecure? I'd imagine the confidence and power trip would be insane.stip wrote:I think it's fairly clear it's because he thinks its intimidating. The character is very insecure.Sgt. It depends on the movie. But yes, in a movie that is defined by the majesty of its visual storytelling it is easy to overlook plot points as you're swept up in it. Just like the lyrics are more important in some songs than others, or the lack of meaningful character arcs in ghostbusters doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the film. Ideally you want all of these things, but any given piece of art can be lighter in some areas than others if they do the others really well.McParadigm wrote:I only remember forest and a few really silly looking creatures. And look, once the initial experience wore off the movie did not age well. It's what makes Jurrasic Park, which had a great story underneath the awe, a far superior movie.

I'm all for visual atmosphere but Avatar CGI's landscapes were utterly unmoving to me.

Weren't there some floating islands straight out of 1970's fantasy novel artwork?LoathedVermin72 wrote:I'm all for visual atmosphere but Avatar CGI's landscapes were utterly unmoving to me.

Re: STAR WARS SPOILER THREAD. SPOILERS WITHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I loved it. I haven't read through the thread but I can't imagine I have any insights that others haven't articulated yet. Assuming Ray is Luke's kid sent away when Ren went bad. She looks too much like Portman to be a coincidence. It was hard being a man in front of my boy when Han died. I was really glad I stayed away from spoilers. I guess my only complaint is another Death Star. I don't really care though the franchise is back on track. Fun...heartfelt...exciting. Very happy.

the collider jedi council review discussion about whether or not Rey is Luke's daughter is really interesting. (starting around 20ish minutes)

Re: STAR WARS SPOILER THREAD. SPOILERS WITHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The thought is that Rey (even if she's not a skywalker) was trained by Luke and saved from Ren's assault, but had her mind wiped by Luke--so the force stuff is coming back to her (otherwise why would she try the 'you will let me go and drop your gun' stuff. Interesting theory.
