Yeah, 3PO's intro was cool, even if it was ultimately pointless because he never did anything.

Jurassic world was kind of awful. The original stands up to time better than a lot of films that had a lot more resources and finances. Practical effects but good story telling and set ups.

Was JW just a ramped up remake? Totally. Done badly though.

That cynical meta scene in JW where the scientist talks about audiences wanting "bigger, cooler" dinosaurs and nothing else says it all about where the filmmakers' heads were at. God that movie is the worst.

I didn't get how 3po knew bb8 in that scene?
Ok so maybe he knew him as Poes before leia sent him on that mission, but why is it then necessary to have 3PO explain to BB8 that R2 is unlikely to wake? If pie and bb8 had been there before their mission bb8 would know about R2 already surely?

I enjoy taking apart movies to see how they work and how they don't work. If this translates to you as some sort of attack on your joy, I don't see it. Maybe there is a Star Wars club you could join or something? Maybe we could make a new subforum? Because this thread is in the arts forum.

But don't worry, I don't find your love of this movie to be an attack on my joy of analyzing and criticizing dumb stuff in movies. I don't think you are shitting on everything I love.

He's an old man, who delivered a lot in his time but has seen declining powers for some time now. If anything, blame the filmmakers rather than Williams if the score stinks. That would have been a perfectly fine place to not make a nostalgia-based choice.

You have to admit though, skitch, that yours is a weird hangup.

No doubt. I guess I would expect a movie so caught up in it's own nostalgia to be more dramatic in its reintroduction of such a massive piece of its history.

and part of this is totally just trolling you guys because its an equally weird point to defend.

I feel like there was an element of humour in the way that scene played out that you're not appreciating, but yeah, it is a weird thing to be considering at length at all.

but yeah, its a shame that a movie with such iconic ship designs only inspired others to recreate those ships again and again, rather than be inspired to create new iconic designs. That's humanity for you.

There were clearly different ship designs between the prequels and the original trilogy. VII seems to be set about twenty years after VI, how much radical reimagining of ship design do you expect in that period?

maybe im trying too hard but it kinda looks like the map to Luke??

also I had to leave a night shift to see it on the 17th and almost lied to work at said i was there the whole time, instead docking hrs, good thing as a picture of me appeared in the local newspaper the next day standing in line at movie theatre
