hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

you have GOT to be kidding me.
I still haven't seen TFA, so I can't compare. But a lot of what I love about the OT (ANH especially) is the political stuff. To me that's just as much a part of the fabric of the thing as the space battles or even the Force mythology. The juxtaposition of practical military strategy/politics and the mythical Force is pretty compelling.

Lucas over did it a bit in the prequels. It was a tad convoluted but I liked that all that stuff was still there.
its meaningless gibberish. If it added anything to the movies it would be great (though against the tone of the SW movies), but its just exposition and crude plotting. There is nothing insightful about it. I can't believe a plot hater like LV would be into it, but then again of course he would be.

I do appreciate the fact that the prequels dared to expand the world and try new things, though, at least from a visual design point if nothing else. Don't get me wrong: they are terrible movies, heck they barely qualify as functional films, but at least it was daring in some ways.

They worst thing about the new one is that now execs can look at it and the prequels and say "people absolutely, positively do NOT want anything new". They'll think the prequels are hated because they didn't have the Millennium Falcon in them.

I just remember it had some Star Wars music in it, like the other ones. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Yeah I'm in no way qualified to judge at this point

This is his last star wars film. Having someone else score a film will be weird

Time will tell, obviously, but I think you're overstating this, especially given the particular way these movies needed to lean on the old.

Kylo's ship looked cool, BB-8 was a new design (and a huge success), the various alien races were all new, and many of the vehicles (even the star destroyer equivalent) were new designs. They kept the big 3 but I wanted to see Xwings, Tie Fighters, and the falcon. They are foundational - the touchstones that tie me to this world.

Did anyone else find it weird that Han was making such a big deal about that alien with the glasses and how mean she was and how weird looking she was, then it turns out that she was just a vanilla alien with bad eye sight?

or did I miss something there?
