I think BB8 was the closest thing to a new icon we'll get from this. From a Star Wars perspective, its a pretty poor rate. Even Phantom Menace had Maul and Amidala's costumes (and it probably would have had a lot more if it were any good.) It would have been nice to get a lot more "new" and a lot less "old".

You're totes overlooking Rey's hair.

Guys, BB8's best moment was when he gave a thumbs up to Finn. It was perfect. It signalled that Finn was accepted into the gang even though they didn't know his past.

Plus it was perfect Star Wars humour.

Open on a inhospitable planet (probably not ice, that would be to obvious, lets go with lava world) where our heroes have just discovered an enemy probe.

Rey or Finn gets into trouble. The other saves him/her.

The Final Order attacks! Our heroes escape just in time.

Rey takes off to find a mysterious new teacher (welcome back Obi-Wan!)

The other head to a seemingly idyllic planet to lay low for awhile, but they are betrayed by the planet's leader, Blando Malrissian.

Rey is too headstrong and stubborn to learn from Obi-Wan. She takes off.

Someone, and I'm not sure who, but almost definitely Luke, wlll say "Rey, I am your father."

Finn will get captured and frozen in carbonite by Phasma.

Rey will lose a hand.

the end.

I thought it was a thumbs up, but seeing how many people are assuming it was a middle finger, im pretty sure it was intentionally ambiguous.
