Is it difficult for you to read betweent he lines and connect dots? That would make sense considering blackhat and ridiculous 6....LoathedVermin72 wrote:lolololololStrat wrote:Yea i dont need those plot holes filled in. It doesnt matter. I believe this is what JJ was talking about when Kasdan told him to the trust the audience. I dont need to know exactly how and who the first order, or what the republic/resistance relationship is, or why the Falcon was on there. Its easy to read between the lines and ultimately it just doesnt fucking matter.

lol @ the idea that TFA does this any meaningful way, or that this is what Kasdan was talking about. If anything, how there is now magically a new organization that is exactly like the Empire is something that needs to be explained way more urgently than all the other things that get talked to death through mindless exposition in this shitshow of a movie.Strat wrote:Is it difficult for you to read betweent he lines and connect dots? Dude, all that happened in jedi was Vader and Palpatine were dismissed. There are still thousands of clones and soldiers around the galaxy. Someone stepped up into their place. THis HAPPENS IN THE REAL WORLD. Also, there is a story with Snoke.LoathedVermin72 wrote:lol @ the idea that TFA does this any meaningful way, or that this is what Kasdan was talking about. The empire disappearing would have required FAR more explanation. The remnants being forced to the outer rims and consolidating (and changing the name) is perfectly reasonable, and while the backstory may be interesting, it is in no way necessary to immediately understand what is going on.

Re: STAR WARS SPOILER THREAD. SPOILERS WITHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The celebration at the end of ROTJ was way more cathartic than just some leaders were killed and now someone else was just gonna step in. The Empire was destroyed. The war was over. I'm not cool with new filmmakers just stepping in and saying, "Oh, actually, the bad guys weren't defeated and now the Empire is just called something else." Bullshit.Strat wrote:Dude, all that happened in jedi was Vader and Palpatine were dismissed. There are still thousands of clones and soldiers around the galaxy. Someone stepped up into their place. Thinly drawn characters, a mythology that made little sense, no people you actually cared about amidst all the destruction and carnage? That's not a sensibility issue. What do you see as its strengths.
The effects were good and I guess I liked watching the monsters fight. I did like Godzilla's final kill.

No toys. I was given a star wars ornament by my parents (a new hope ornament, actually--Leia putting the plans in R2) and my wife bought a Darth vader, Threepio, R2, and Kylo ren ornament.
I have not yet bought some kind of BB8 figure, but I have every intention of doing so.

I really don't have the energy to have another in-depth Godzilla debate on RM; I've stated my thoughts about it multiple times. Suffice to say I don't find the characters thinly drawn, I do care about them, and I think there is a lot of thematic weight behind Ford's arc. On top of that, it's a breathtaking work of art aesthetically/philosophically.stip wrote:Thinly drawn characters, a mythology that made little sense, no people you actually cared about amidst all the destruction and carnage? I just pulled the trigger on the sphero BB8 that's controlled by your phone. I wanted to stay true to the Hasbro brand, but this sphero one, while more expensive, blows it out of the water:

I can see why you'd like that aesthetic. You seem to be drawn to those darker twilight (the time of day, not the movie) visuals.
