Yeah, that is a bummer. I also don't feel like we ever really got any Chewie mourning. Seemed liked a weirdly quick jump to a new partner after decades together.

The added dialogue is even worse. But, yeah, the original ape-eyes hologram was great.

This is such a beautifully made movie. The cinematography, the production design, the score, everything. It's so carefully crafted. That's what really distinguishes the OT for me, I think.

A similar scene between Chewie and Bea Arthur was in the original airing of the Holiday Special, but Lucas was able to hunt down every copy and edit it out so it wouldn't enter canon.
