Why would they air a show in an order it wasn't meant to be seen in?

Because the director was trying to emulate a style of old serial melodrama from his childhood and thought it would be cute.

A lot of animated shows are aired out of order. It's more the norm than the exception. Most aren't serials so it doesn't matter. Why they do it I have no idea.
