lenny, i saw him last week at pitchfork (before we saw chvrches and wilco). we had an amazing time.

This is sorta like Kurt Vile with Vaporwave undertones and a hint of Ween. He's got a killer sound.

After further listening, I like him, but don't love him. His music sounds great but the actual songs hold him back. They're enjoyable, but rarely excel.
If this guy ever manages to elevate his songwriting and melodies to the same level as his general sound, he's going to make an album for the ages.

he still entertains me immensely which helps though

The new album is mediocre but "One More Love Song" is excellent.
