i'll agree with this if peeps agrees to not be stupid about the whole thing. i know it's hard for him - considering the team he roots for believes they've been treated unfairly and voices such an opinion openly - but i'll remain optimistic that he'll get his head out of his ass one of these days.

If anything, the Penguins get treated with kids gloves most of the time, but Cooke doesn't get, nor deserve any benefit of the doubt when it comes to dirty hits.

oh, Sid, such a kidder... "barely catch a guy." HA, that's a good one. i don't know what coach is referring to specifically, but i'm thinking he's just as tired as everyone else with Pitt's whining.

You in this thread is whining.

I am sure if you look at the context of his answering the question you'll realize here is no whining involved

Weird they are doing back to backs in the conference finals. Its nice from a fans perspective but i'm sure the players would prefer a little more rest.

Here's everything I can find of what Crosby said after the game. He's whining and deflecting responsibility, specifically on his interference of Marchand and his shoving of Rask after time expired in the 2nd:
  • Instead of blaming controversial checks [for the nastiness after the 2nd period], Sidney Crosby pointed his finger at the officiating crew. He told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Shelly Anderson that they let the contest spiral out of control.

“They’re letting a lot go out there, and the more it gets like that, the more it’s going to escalate,” Crosby said. “You can only control and channel that stuff so much. You keep letting guys do that stuff, you’re just going to push the envelope. That’s something we obviously want to stay away from, but it’s kind of a natural thing when it gets like that.”

The 25-year-old indicated that there might have been a lack of clarity in what was allowed and what would be penalized.

“It was just hard to gauge,” Crosby said. “Interference calls where you barely catch a guy, and then you’re allowing punches to the head. Are we going to play, or are we going to call those little things once in a while? It’s hard to get a temperature on the game when that stuff is going on. Then you let a few of those go and everything starts getting out of hand.”

Still, he ultimately came to the same conclusion that many likely did at home.

“We’ve just got to focus on playing.”

Especially for the Western Conference teams. The East should have started on Thurs or Friday if the league had to have a game today.

If someone was going to play 2 in a row it should have been the east as both of those teams had been off for a week. Maybe theres some conflict with the arena in the West.

Those quotes from Sid after game 1 are basically like: "Why am I not getting protected more as the NHL's child star? I'm used to it from all the refs, but now the Big Bad Bruins come and play the same type of game that the Flyers did last year and get us off our game by getting me upset and I feel like the refs aren't protecting me as much as usual."

Unless Rask stands on his head, I'd be shocked if the Pens didn't win tonight's game to the tune of 6-2.

The Bruins did EXACTLY what they have to do to win this series in game one. If they can continue to have the Penguins obsessed with the referees, delivering cheap shots, and responding to hits, it neutralizes the Pens' talent advantage. If I'm the Bruins, I up the ante tonight and go hard after Crosby, and hope it throws the Pens' further off their game.

Totally agree and I hope that happens....still, I gotta think a team that average 4+ goals per game is going to get "theirs" eventually, unless Rask is again unstoppable.

Here's hoping that history repeats. It all kind of reminds me of Ram-Pats in that first Super Bowl, when the high-flying Rams were beat up by the tougher Pats. And, of course, there's similarities to that Flyers series.

Is there a bigger fake tough guy than Crosby pretending he wanted to fight Chara the other night?
