So Force awakens has passed the billion mark. And the Chinese premiere was last night.
Wonder if it can take the record from avatar?

I haven't even seen the movie, and as soon as I read that line in a review I knew what that was.

JJ loves to put his own words and jokes into the mouths of characters. It always feels "outside" the story, which is detrimental to how clever he thinks he's being, and historically it sucks.

See also: "just blow it up. There's always a way to blow it up."

It's also incredibly condescending to Lucas. Self-righteous, entitled, mean-spirited bullshit.

You're assuming it was intended to be mean.
It's just Star Wars fans grabbing at anything.

This whole movie is a desperate attempt to "restore" the franchise from a generalized perception of "disgrace." And as McP noted, this isn't new for Abrams. It's not that much of a stretch.

Applying a maligned view into something you havent any evidence for is a bit much.

If there was an FU to the prequels it's the scene the coruscant looking planet gets destroyed

Get over it: it's decent SW.

It's not New Hope 1977, Empire 1980. It's passable SW.

Those of you wanting a bear-mauling set to wonderful naturalistic scenery and one-shot takes will have to see something else.
