My wife is definitely in the "I don't really give a shit" category and she loved it.stip wrote:I am seeing it tomorrow with 3 people, only one of who is a Star Wars fan and at least one (my wife) could not give a shit . 7 or 8 out of ten seems right to me if you don't care about Star Wars. It's a fun space adventure movie with great action and characters and some plot issues. Caring about Star Wars bumps it up another point or two

We disagree on A LOT of movies and music. TV we're usually on the same page. But not the case with film/music for some reason.

I would think it would be rather miserable to be married to someone who has different tastes than you.

We have very similar tastes overall. We're pretty much the same person. But there are certain genres that she likes that I don't and visa versa. But, for example, we both prefer Trek to Wars in general. Both LOVED JJ's Star Trek. Both are moved by The Decemberists and Martin Sexton.McParadigm wrote:I would think it would be rather miserable to be married to someone who has different tastes than you.
But she probably wouldn't listen to Pearl Jam that much if not for me. I wouldn't have listened to the Dixie Chicks if not for her. But we both really love those bands now.
She tends to shy away from heavy or darker things. I really like being challenged from time to time, and having a difficult viewing/listening experience. She'd rather not. Which isn't to say she doesn't appreciate those things, but she doesn't seek them out.
We both tend to like things that others don't. Like when everyone was hating on Beasts of the Southern Wild, we were flabbergasted. We both really loved that movie. Ditto, Birdman.
Her favorite all time films are The Graduate and Annie Hall.
And we're both obsessed with Pitch Perfect.

She's also really put off by violence. So, things like Drive, for example, which she kinda wanted to see, she still hasn't because of the graphic violence.

I wasn't talking about you Joey. It was just a general comment response to the posts that preceded it.durdencommatyler wrote:We have very similar tastes overall. We're pretty much the same person. Although a couple who share a love of JJ Abrams Trek, Pearl Jam, and The Dixie Chicks sounds way worse I guess.
