I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Its is quite wonderful. I love John Carpenter so much.
Have you seen the original one?
Generally, I'm not a fan of Carpenter. I think he kind of made this by accident.
Yeah, it's okay.
The Thing might be his best one yes..but, he has many great movies...you dont like In The Mouth Of Madness?
I think most of his stuff is mildly good, or mediocre. In the Mouth of Madness is good, but overpraised. He's a talented director technically, but rarely does that skill rise above a merely technical level.

Is it overpraised? Huh. I thought people generally disliked it.
I hadn't even heard of that one. But I am a fan of The Thing, They Live, and Escape from New York. Not a big fan, but a fan.
IMO, Halloween is an overrated movie. I was bored out of my skull.
I liked Halloween. Didn't love it. Well, I loved the opening, first person murder stuff. That was fantastic. The rest of the movie was good, not great. But I'm not a huge fan of the genre in general.
Halloween sucks. So do Ghosts of Mars and The Ward. They Live and Escape from New York are both okay, but probably two of the most overrated movies ever made (especially the former).
The only things I really like by him are The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, The Fog, and "Cigarette Burns" (his Masters of Horror episode). And The Thing is wwwwwaaaaayyyyy better than the other three.
I would like to see Starman, though. But I don't have a lot of confidence in it.
