Re: The Work-Out Thread
I love my Garmin Forerunner 110. A great $150 investment. Keep in mind that your "pace" on this watch is what you will finish the current mile at, not the pace you are running at that exact moment.BDB wrote:im thinking about getting this GPS watch. Any insight or experience generally with these watches?
not looking for HR monitor, just basic accurate distance/pace/time.

Does anyone here use a FitBit? I am getting one and was curious what others here think about them or if there is any advice for getting started with one. Loves? Hates?

10 miles in 70 minutes
Felt great. Set the treadmill 7:03 miles then gutted out a 6-minute final mile to finish in just under 70. Ran into an old friend in the sauna afterward. He's been through a ton on shit, including cancer wiping out his mom, dad and sister. He's also gained almost 100 pounds in the last 3 years. He asked if we could meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the gym, just so he could have someone to answer to. I agreed.

Meeting him will do more for him than just help him with weight loss. Man alive. Fuck cancer.turned2black wrote:10 miles in 70 minutes

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Maybe this should go in the irrational hatred thread, but I really hate one of the trainers at my gym. Every time I see this guy he's standing there watching some middle aged lady attempt to squat, lunge, or deadlift using the worst form imaginable and he does nothing. Just stands there until they finish and then he gives them something else to do probably to see how many workouts it'll take to get them injured. I can only imagine that he's trying to drum up business for a physical therapist somewhere.
It really bothers me, probably more than it should but it really bothers me how negligent this guy is.

Dude just called with "stomach problems" and said he wasn't gonna make it today. So on Day One of our new joint training plan, he's already making excuses.turned2black wrote:10 miles in 70 minutes

I wanted to yell at him and call him a tub of shit, instead I just said, "I'll see you Tuesday." It's hard to ridicule someone when they play the diarrhea card.

10 miles in 71 minutes
Didn't feel great. Started at a sub-7 pace, dropped it to 7:40 or so, then pushed it back to a sub-7 pace just to get it over with. Quarter-mile finishing kick. Not gonna lie, this was about 90% effort for me and I'm still pretty wasted.
Kinda getting sick of the treadmill at this point. I may start running super-early in the morning next week as triple digits are here to stay.

Wife is going to my mom's place with ALL the kids from the 17th to the 24th. Going up north for some trail running while they are away. I may hit Sedona. I'm gettin' the leg twitches just thinking about it.
Time for some running porn.
