This is the only sad part of this story.(T)he alligator, which behaved aggressively toward divers, was trapped and euthanized.

So there's controversy (obviously) around this photo from cadets at the citadel. They are trying to say that it was supposed to be ghosts of Christmas past singing carols, lol.

A ‘Gay Pride Festivus Pole’ could soon land in Georgia’s Capitol
A new phase in the War on Christmas? A free speech group called The Humanity Fund petitioned state authorities for the right to hoist a “Gay Pride Festivus Pole” under the Gold Dome. Chaz Stevens, the group’s director, said the pole is 6’6″ tall, painted with purple glitter, splotched with rainbow colors and topped with a disco ball. The pole has already graced statehouses in Florida, and there are plans to mount it in Illinois, Michigan and Washington. It was also recently approved by officials in Oklahoma.
For the uninitiated, Festivus is a fictional holiday depicted in Seinfeld celebrated on Dec. 23. It features a family dinner where, in the words of Frank Constanza, celebrants get to “tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year” followed by a “feats of strength” contest. It’s unclear whether Georgia officials will allow the Festivus pole, but it’s hit a roadblock in Arkansas. Officials there denied Stevens’ request earlier this month, citing trademark issues and concerns about how the pole will be anchored.
Stevens said it should be a no-brainer for Georgia leaders. “There are no moving parts, no power requirements,” he said. “But plenty of opportunities to air one’s grievances.”

A great read.
An 18-year-old said she was attacked at knifepoint. Then she said she made it up. That’s where our story begins.

Tragic, but it's nothing compared to the ongoing struggles against a world of unimaginable pain at Oberlin.

I had to look twice to make sure that wasn't an Onion article.

Re: Not worthy of a thread News
It annoyed the shit out of me when thus first popped up, because
A. The first thing these assholes thought of was to film it.
B. Every article basically took the angle of "this terrible thing happened to these poor cruise-goers. Isn't it just awful for them?"
I figured it couldn't get worse than that. Then I saw this one, which adds an actual screenshot from the Shining for effect.
Fucking people.
