again, Kings-Lakers 2002...nothing has been as egregious since, but that series (specifically game 6) was so obviously "we want the Lakers to win" I don't even know how any sane person who knows anything about basketball can deny it
My problems with the league go well beyond shady officiating/David Stern though

That Kings game was probably the single worst officiated game I've ever seen.
If there was a pro-stars (Miami in this case) conspiracy then why didn't Stern suspend Hibbert? That would pretty much would have gifted Miami the series and it'd have the cover of cracking down on homophobic comments.

I don't really watch any basketball or follow it much at all until this time of year, but Im hoping the heat get the win tonight, i may watch a few games in the finals since i like both Lebron and Tim Duncan
what is "big" in the nba these days? shane battier's a 6'8", 220 lb SF, which is pretty big, yet the announcers keep saying he's riding the pine because miami's been forced to go "big."

I missed that, but I feel bad for Battier. He did so much to get this team here but that just wasn't his matchup. I really hope he gets his shot against the Spurs. I was glad Spo didn't put him out there in garbage time, that would have been an insult I think.

I don't think it's fixed, but I do think refs are influenced by home crowds, superstars and a lot of flopping.
It wasn't hard to tell who was going to win last night just by the pattern of each teams play this series on the road.
The Pacers aren't a good enough team to play the kind of clean basketball they needed to play to beat the heat on the road.

Zach Lowe and Bill Simmons have a theory that he is just worn out from bumping with 4's all year. He's no spring chicken any more.
Not surprised by the outcome of last night's game. I'm hoping the Finals go 6 or 7 games.

It's quite possible. It's also possible the same has happened to Bosh as well, especially judging by his comments after game 6 when he said this entire season has been frustrating for him. The matchup against the Spurs should be a little better for Bosh without a West or Hibbert, but they still have a pair of 7 footers, so it doesn't get much easier for him.

This will be the first time the Spurs will go into the Finals when I'm not super confident they will win. They don't have the horses to overcome a bad game by TP in this series and he is due for a bad game or two. My hope is that the rest did Manu some good and he'll finally be ready to do something this postseason.
I don't know what to expect from Pop. In the old days, he'd bring the nasty against Wade and try to frustrate him with tough D and hard fouls. But they don't really have that kind of team anymore. This team's all about passing and "flow". And I think resorting to those old school tactics will take them out of rhythm. So as much as I'd like to see Wade and LeBron crosschecked to the floor everything they go to the basket, I don't think that'll happen. The Spurs need to run with the Heat, then watch LeBron clank a few jumpers down the stretch.

I'm on the fence about the series. The long layoff for the Spurs won't help them in some aspects but will in others. Both teams have similar offensive systems (drive and kick, lots of 3's). I'm saying the Heat in 6, but if the Spurs can frustrate the Heat (or if Wade's knee bothers him) and the Heat revert to the Lebron show I could see the Spurs winning in 6 or 7.
Should be entertaining to see all the various adjustments made from game to game. Can't wait.
Why does everyone say 'If Wade isn't injured' like he somehow hasn't been dogshit for quite sometime now? He's looked 'injured' for at least two years now. I don't look at him any different than I do any of Lebron's other lackeys at this point....
