He's not wrong, though.

Anyway, farewell Bowie. His work never connected for me like I wish it did or expected it to but his catalogue nonetheless contains a lot of very good music and I have a huge amount of respect for his ceaseless dedication to his craft.

Scattered thoughts: Bowie was never my favorite artist or anywhere near it, but he was in the Hall of Fame of "if one of his songs comes on the radio, you turn it all the way up." Ziggy Stardust is probably the greatest rock album of all time that's about rock and roll. I always just sort of assumed he was immortal--you could've convinced me he was anywhere between 40 and 70. Every rock frontman in the world owes him their lunch.

I was never a fan but he was a artist I nevertheless respected. My condolences to those who were impacted by him

I posted this a year or so ago in the other David Bowie thread here:
Varis wrote:When I was about 8 years old my older brother (by 11 years) made me a C90 mixtape of David Bowie songs. The first 2 songs were Space Oddity and Starman. That tape is the actual thing that kick started my life long love of music. I have no idea how many times I played it but I knew every word of every song.

I owe a big debt to both Bowie and my brother for that gift.
I'm pretty sad about this one.

Interesting that some people said they only liked the hits, but to me most of his hits are annoying (I hate Changes so much) yet the lesser known stuff is really connecting with me.

Some of his hits are kind of annoying if you dig his music but man that guitar in rebel rebel is transcendent

If only the people who celebrate being odd or unique did it with half the coolness/self-awareness that Bowie did.
