Re: Tarantino
Funny how Tarantino rankings vary so much from person to person -
Here's mine - haven't seen Hateful 8 yet, though... And I genuinely like all of them, so they aren'yt all that far apart for me.
Inglorious Basterds
Kill Bill
Pulp Fiction
(From Dusk till Dawn)
(True Romance)
.
.
Death Proof
Reservoir Dogs
Four Rooms/Man From Hollywood
(Planet Terror)
.
.
Jackie Brown
Django Unchained

Why do people combine Kill Bill? They are two very different movies.

Re: Tarantino
Tarantino originally made Kill Bill as one four-hour-long film. In fact, the first time it was shown, at Cannes, it was shown as one long movie. Only after that did they decide to break it up into two parts. Tarantino counts 'Hateful Eight' as his eighth movie. That means that Kill Bill is one film and Death Proof counts, or that Kill Bill is two films and Death Proof doesn't count. So, I say look at Kill Bill as one movie.BurtReynolds wrote:Why do people combine Kill Bill? They are two very different movies.
I couldn't pick one part over the other anyway, mainly because I always watch them together and can't really remember in which volume which sequences occur.

KB2 drags the whole down considerably. So if it's one movie, I'd have to rank it dead last. The Argonaut wrote:Tarantino originally made Kill Bill as one four-hour-long film. Re: Tarantino
The fights in part one are stupid. The blood is stupid. It's a bad cartoon. But it's so beautifully shot. And the "lights off/black and white" thing was innovating and interesting.BurtReynolds wrote:I'm not into all that chop socky nonsense. By 2 all the characters have worn out their welcome. And the dialogue, supposedly QT's strength, is some of the worst I can remember in a major motion picture. Bill going on for six hours about Superman or whatever made me want to go on a killing spress just so I could go to jail forever and never think about those movies ever again.
But yeah, the fight with Daryl Hannah is brutal and maybe the best sequence in either part.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I really enjoyed the hateful Eight. A real slow burn.
