Bowie - Blackstar (2016) & RIP David Bowie :(

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

For sure St. Vincent covering Girl Loves Me would be on there. :heartbeat:

Look up Ben Harper and ed doing under pressure from hard rock calling in London.
Witnessed that in person when they came to Australia. Best part of the night.
One of the great rock and roll vocal performances of all time ruined by Eddie Vedder.

Words you've never heard or will hear. He was on another level beyond reach.
Annie Clark has the potential. She wants to be the next Bowie.

Not sure she'll ever get there. Hopefully she's just happy being the first Annie Clark. That's where she belongs. She's her own kind of genius. I don't want the Bowie comparisons for the rest of her career.
saying anyone is the next anyone else is completely asinine
Agreed.

It would be great if he were right but unfortunately dime is wrong. People say things like that all the time and will continue to do so, much to my displeasure.

I haven't heard such a comparison made about any new artist or act.

Apart from the gaslight anthem and everyone saying they're tryna emulate Bruce and e street band.

Which they never will be but it doesn't stop them trying it seems

My spin of Hunky Dory tonight has been very emotional. Definitely some sadness, but mostly peaceful happiness over the fact that I was alive at the same time as this amazing artist.

For me it's certainly a top-5 album of the 70's.

Nothing wrong with Modern Love.

I've always loved Criminal World off of the 'Let's Dance' album.

"Modern Love" is one of my favorites on the "Best of Bowie" collection. Masterful pop songwriting.

On Friday, I don't know what possessed me to put a Bowie album on.
then I was listening to more on the youtube.

and then I saw that he had done a song or two with elvis....And then I was even more tickled to find out that THAT very day was both Bowie's and Elvis's birthday!

Then yesterday I saw on here that he has a new album...

then right before I went to bed, he died.

wtf

For what it's worth, I don't believe the photos were taken a few days ago, only released then to promote the new record.

I'd read that the album was primarily recorded early last year but Bowie held its release back until now, the photos may date from the same period. As superhuman as Bowie appears to have seemed to many, I doubt even he would've looked that perky a few days before death following a long illness.
