Good few videos of the technical stuff been released online.
Wonder if that's anything to do with the oscars?
PS does anyone know why the Academy don't recognise something like Star Wars for the big categories? Meaning best picture/best director?

Is there a timeframe that a movie has to be out for, to be eligible?dimejinky99 wrote:Good few videos of the technical stuff been released online.

There's a good few criteria that a film has to meet to be eligible.

I'm not that bad strat but I have always wondered why the academy doesn't rate these sorts of films. Outside LOTR have they ever?

They tend to clean up in the technical categories. I love TFA but it's not best picture materialdimejinky99 wrote:I'm not that bad strat but I have always wondered why the academy doesn't rate these sorts of films. Outside LOTR have they ever?

Thing is I'd say the same about a few that are nominated.
Bridge of spies for example. It's good. It's definitely not best picture good.
The direction is pretty great. I didn't know it was Spielberg til after I saw it and was joking that whoever directed had a serious Hitchcock fetish.
Wouldn't pick Revenant either but it's pure Oscar bait too. Just wish it was a lot more physical. Didn't engage me at all.
And Brooklyn? Completely boring.

Maybe once you see the 6 hour directors cuts you'll find them all substantially improved.dimejinky99 wrote:stip wrote:They tend to clean up in the technical categories. Disney probably will release extended editions once all three films have been released. That's according the Jedi council guys. I'm ok with just including deleted scenes on the DVDs. If they were left out of the final cut there's probably a reason but that doesn't mean Disney won't ignore the fact they can make another couple of hundred million by releasing extended cuts. They know the fan base will buy them.

Something I've always wondered. If you're john Williams and you're scoring a film that's out in 18 months, do you start once you have the story from the writers? Or when you've seen a rough edit? Surely that's an intense pressure time wise?
And how do you edit each piece of music to its scene?
I'd say that's an intense amount of work and pressure. Wonder how he does it?

Is John Williams training an apprentice or something? What will Steven Spielberg do when he dies?

John's career is second to none, but his powers have been diminishing for some time.
