I get why that theory persists, because it's just assumed that Trant finished the job. But there's really not a lot of clues throughout the rest of the novels to support. And when GRRM throws us a curveball he tips his pitches.

Drogo is a powerful khal or warlord of the fearsome Dothraki nomads. He is tall and muscular, and moves gracefully. He has a long, drooping moustache and a long braid hung with tiny bells that hangs down to his thighs, symbolizing his status among the Dothraki as an undefeated warlord.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail.
