so with all of the teams that had an interest in Koetter seeming to either have their guys or not as much interest, i wonder what the chances of the Bucs hiring someone else and keeping Koetter as OC

Probably pretty slim. Even with all the interest in him, if he doesn't get hired, he knows he would be a candidate again next year. Doubt he wants to commit to an OC job long term knowing that. I think it is just a formality at this point, they are going to make him head ball coach.

i wonder why they havent gone ahead and announced his promotion yet? they have satisfied the rooney rule as of friday i think.

He may have wanted to interview with at least one of the other teams to see how much money was out there, that way he can get as much as possible out of Tampa.

I agree. I would like Mike Smith. I think he was a better DC than HC and he's worked with Koetter before. Also, Mike was a HC so he can always offer advice and guidance.

He interviewed for the Giants HC position but basically he's waiting by the phone.

So, A lot of people's opinion of Mike Smith is that... well he's not a very good head coach.

The thing is, Thomas Dimitroff sucked complete ass from 2009 - 2012 as a General Manager. (He's still living off of 2008) though the last couple of drafts have been better.

Smith with average talent won 56 games over his first 5 years and they were the least penalized team in football. They lost in the playoffs, because their talent wasn't as good as other teams. After 2012 many veterans were ushered out, and the true nature of Dimitroff personnel management has been revealed. Smith was fired, because he had some well publicised clock blunders and because he hired Mike Nolan, who probably will never work in the NFL again, because.... damn. He was awful, worst scheme in the history of mankind, Smith, was never hard enough on his coordinators, but hey, maybe that's why he's got a job now.

You're going to have a disciplined defense that doesn't commit a lot of stupid penalties, They will not beat themselves. I don't know what scheme he would run and I don't think he's ever called plays.

Bucs hire Southern Miss. head coach, Todd Monken, to be offensive coordinator. I guess since Koetter already said he was going to do the play calling, they are giving this guy a chance in the pros?

he is gonna be the OC/WR coach, so im guessing he has some good experience with WRs ( i hope lol ) and he is just gonna be the OC in title and basically do what Koetter wants him to do to keep the offense in line during practice and stuff . i also think they didnt promote the QB coach because they wanted him to continue to have total focus on Jameis.

I'm guessing Steve Keim and Bruce Arians are gonna push really hard to get Glennon this off-season and they'll cut Drew Stanton instead of signing him to a "biggish" back-up deal. Arians apparently loves Glennon and rumor has it that several other teams do too. Instead of waiting for his contract to run out, I'm betting they'll give up a decent draft pick to get him. He'll sit behind Carson for a year or two, then be ready for BA's system.

Yeah, it is inevitable now that Winston seems to be the right pick. And I wish Glennon nothing but the best, I really like that guy. He isn't going to throw stupid interceptions. You'd be getting a decent QB.
