We had a place that sold grinders around here, also there's subway, and I've heard people call 6-8 inch bread loaves... hoagie rolls.
I generally call them sandwiches.

Is there one for the word "creek"?
I hate to say I love you,
But oh goddamn I love you,
You know I do.

There is indeed, #10. Though it looks like Montana's the only serious "crick" holdout that's left.Chloe wrote:Is there one for the word "creek"?

Re: Demographic Maps
I just took a look at the "Individual" tab on that one, and I can see that Pittsburgh is the second most prominent on that behind Detroit. Other than maybe Buffalo it looks like everyone else is in the dark.Peeps wrote:devils night here

Coastal Carolina still says Crick. My grandfather had a home nicknamed Crickedge.

Re: Demographic Maps
Despite being born & raised here I've always been told I don't have much of a southern accent and with a few exceptions (y'all, coke, dropping g at the end of words) these maps seem to confirm that. And I do pronouce "pin" and "pen" the same as do "tin" and "ten". I think I use both "greacy" and "greazy".
I've definitely heard old folks use "the devil is beating his wife" expression.
