Not a Hall of Famer. But then again, I'm for a complete overhaul of the basketball Hall of fame. The NBA should have its own.turned2black wrote:I loved Ben Wallace and that Pistons team was probably my favorite non-Spurs team of the last 20 years, but I think it's tough to make a case for him. It's really hard for defensive guys to make it. I'm guessing Dikembe barely made it into the HOF and Wallace has the same number of DPoYs (4), but far worse numbers all around.verb_to_trust wrote:Nbatv was debating Ben Wallace as a hall of famer. Should I shit all over this or do one of you guys want to do it?
I personally think it's unfair. I'd take his defense and career 6/10 over some low-efficiency forward who averaged 18/6 and played lazy defense.

Re: NBA Thread
Ben wasn't half the player Dennis Rodman was and quite a few people bitched about him getting in. Anyone making an argument for Ben is probably just a little too sentimental about that Pistons team taking out the Lakers.

Re: NBA Thread
For context I should point out the Bulls signing Ben Wallace was a traumatically awful move for me as he was mostly awful before he was mercifully traded.
Still, not even close to a hall of famer.

Re: NBA Thread
I totally agree that Rodman was better than Wallace. Anyone who bitches about The Worm being in the HOF is a fucking idiot. Dude was really 6'5" or 6'6" and led the league in rebounding 7 times, was two-time DPoY and was 7-time all-defensive first team. Dude was all effort. He probably dove out of bounds to save a ball more than all the other players in the NBA combined when he was in the league.
That being said, Wallace and Dikembe are the only 4-time DPoY winners. Unfortunately, I don't think Wallace's other numbers are good enough to get him in.

Peak Ben Wallace was so much fun to watch.
I am totally biased and would love to see him in the hall of fame.

Parker injures the hip again. I'm guessing he sits for several games during the Rodeo Road Trip.
Looking forward to Spurs-PHX on Thursday. Our tickets are shitty, but my son's pretty pumped and I just got him a Kawhi jersey.

Not having KCP is going to make this game tough to win.
