Ren v Smaug v Vader would probably sound a lot like that Mad TV "you stole my voice" skit.

Seriously, how the hell is this up for best picture?? I need someone to explain it to me. i was hoping LV would love it and be able to break it down why its good.

What is the plot? The dialogue is ridiuclous. The editing is dizzying, the guitar flame thrower is LOL even if it is for a brief second. The costumes are way over the top. I, i, i dont know. I was really hoping to like this movie and other than it being somewhat interesting visually....

Didnt look like much of a struggle though. They had all sorts of awesome cars and weapons and endless supplies of gas. They didnt even need to eat anything!

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

His performance in The Danish Girl looks about on par with his performance in Jupiter Ascending.

I'm being serious when I say his performance in Jupiter Ascending was by far his best. There is no way that he was that "bad" without giving it some effort. Outstanding.

When you can stand out as exceptionally bad relative to the rest of Jupiter Ascending, you know you've reached a very special level of suck.

You obviously haven't seen the movie McP. It had anti-gravity skates.

I actually bought this movie and need to find time to watch it again. It's been sitting on my shelf with inside out, interstellar, the 4 alien movies, and something else that was also on sale at target

Lol yeah you don't get it. Did you think it was crazy that people were driving around in giant gas guzzling muscle cars in a world with little gasoline, too?

It's called a conceit. If you can't get on board with it, then you can't get on board with it. It has little to do with the movie's quality, though. It's like watching Moulin Rouge and wondering why everyone keeps singing their feelings with perfectly choreographed dance numbers. It's just a conceit you have to buy into. Otherwise just go home.

It's supposed to be over the top. As I've said before, Miller is a master visual storyteller (ie filmmaker) and this is no different. Everything from the costumes to the stunts to the ridiculous boys vs girls plot reinforce this. It's a ridiculous movie that's meant to be ridiculous and its executed ridiculously well. The fact that LV didn't like it should only prove my point.
