Mostly I'm madly in love with Marvel's handling (and Chris Evans' portrayal) of Captain America as compared to the entirely botched portrayal of Superman by DC. They are similar characters, but where Cap comes across as sincere, warm and authentic, Superman is wooden and lifeless.

To pull off such a guileless, morally superior character in this cynical age is extremely difficult. These types of characters are far more likely to be mocked or changed into Batman these days. Marvel nailed it, and the old Donner Superman movies did a good job, but thus far Snyder hasn't done much with Superman except make him more emo.

For whatever reason - I liked emo Superman

There were moments here and there, but for the most part he was barely a character at all.

I guess it was more coming off Superman Returns - this was leaps and bounds better

He's not a very interesting or original idea in the grand scheme of things, and sitting through a movie like that sounds immensely boring to me. but if you're gonna go that route, I'd rather make him a backdrop for human characters playing out a more human story. At that point, he's essentially Godzilla.

I agree. I like the first two captain movies. There are way better than Thor.

his only weakness is rocks from the planet he was born on

in the comics he has super memory, he is a super whistler (i swear im not making this up) and pretty much has any type of vision or breath that is needed.

the basic premise of his power is how his body metabolizes yellow sun energy. its not that he is invincible it is his body creates a mini-force field around him that makes him impervious to harm.

not sure how they explain his flying (creates anti-gravitons or something more than likely) but how does he have heat, xray, microscopic, telescopic vision, super cold breath, super speed, super hearing, super smell, super touch

he is basically the embodiment of the dues ex machina

the thing is if they cut his powers in half he could be a very interesting character. the only time he is interesting otherwise is when he gets to cut loose against similar powered bad guys such as doomsday or darkseid (i say this more from the art side of the comics. dan jurgens art from the death of superman is amazing)

but when he is going up against threats like gorilla grodd, sinestro etc i just have a hard time believing it should take more than 3 seconds to win

Can someone explain to me why all the people who lived on Krypton didn't get sick and die long before they formed a civilization capable of destroying the planet? They're fucking allergic to their own planet.
