~19 miles on my favorite trail on Saturday. Went out to do 2 loops. Did the first loop in 65. My 2 loop PR is 2:09, so I pushed hard on the second loop. But just couldn't maintain the pace and finished in 2:12. Got pissed and decided to punish myself, so I started a third loop. Decided that was a bad idea 2 miles in and turned back, so ended up doing about 19. Trail was packed with National Championship tourists, many of whom looked like they were in over their heads. It's a deceptively tough trail. I wonder how many Alabama fans the sheriff's department had to rescue this weekend. Still pissed I cracked, but pretty happy to be 42 and still pushing for PRs.

10 miles on the canal yesterday. I was Mr. Deadlegs and finished in 76. It was a trudge.

It's a minimum day today.

Sat: 3.2 on the tread, awful run
Sun: 3.25 on the tread, torrential downpours outside, miserable run
Mon: 35 minutes resistance, rear muscle groups
Tue: 3.25 on the tread once again

Just can't seem to find my groove but the fact of the streak is keepin' me on.

Towers run yesterday at South Mountain. 14 in 1:53. Perfect weather. 61 minutes up. 52 down. Pushed for a sub 1:50, but died in the last two miles.

Gym treadmill tonight.

It's well below zero here in the Twin Cities today, so I did my scheduled 20 miles on a treadmill. Yuck. I've got a hill workout Tuesday and a 12 mile run next Sunday. Otherwise, the runs are short and I am basically tapering down for the next two weeks and then not running at all for two weeks before I begin an 18 week program that will hopefully end up with a Boston qualifying time on June 19th.

Shitty few days. 4 miles on Thursday, Friday (speedwork) and Saturday (hills). Felt bad everyday. Then I did my half marathon route today. Finished in 94. Felt like shit the whole way and just resigned myself to "gutting it out." Felt a little better toward the end and picked it up a bit to finish under 95. Not great, but all things considered not terrible either. Canals were packed with people exercising. Running post-40 sucks ass. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why my body feels great one week, then I feel like death the next.

An odd elbow injury (can't figure out if it's a nerve or a tendon) might keep me out of the game a bit this week but I'm gonna try to hammer through

Can anyone confirm that you shouldn't jog/run with babies in their stroller until they're about 9 months old?

In all the research I've done, I never saw any warnings about this. Then my wife tells me she saw it in one little place somewhere, and now we are concerned. Who here runs with their babies? Are we all good here?

I've always used a flatbed/bike convertible type of running stroller and it's never been a problem. Essentially, they were lying down when I was running. I started running with my eldest and middle child at about 3 months. Obviously, if you have more upright stroller where they need to be able to support their head, that would be an issue.*

Head/neck support appears to be the main factor. Not age.

We're good

Wait, stretches count? I would've nailed this last time if that were the case.

Well, when you're as inflexible as I am a 30 minute stretch routine sure feels like a workout. But I'm only listing it because it's part of the asylum workout plan. Once I begin my half marathon training next month my stretch day will become a more demanding yoga workout. But if you guys feel like I shouldn't count it as part of my streak then I'm fine with that.

Last week was rough. Only did the 4-mile minimum on every day but Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Tough week at work and my son broke his arm. Also had a cough that I was a little worried would develop into Valley Fever, but it started to subside towards the end of the week. Did my 10-mile canal run on Wednesday and Saturday. Sunday was a double on Peralta Trail, which was great. Surprisingly, it wasn't all that busy and I was able to haul ass on the way down both times.
